Disobedience causes death!  There are many examples of death by disobedience in the bible but we will only focus on the first sin of disobedience.  That’s right, Adam and Eve!

THE ANNOUNCEMENT:  

AND GOD SAID, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon earth.  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.  Genesis 1:26-27. 

According to Genesis Man was made in God’s image inclusive of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  To be made in God’s image is to have the attributes of infinite wisdom, creativity, self-control, love, humility, etc.

GOD’S ORDER IN MARRIAGE  (The first family):  Adam found out the hard way that disobedience was not part of God’s DNA albeit Adam did not disobey God directly.  Eve disobeyed God, but since God made Adam the head of Eve that makes him responsible.  Yes, that’s right, Adam was the head of Eve thus this was the first church or the first spiritual marriage.  Just like Jesus (groom) is the Head of the church (bride).  The body must always obey the head.  Adam (head), Eve (body).  Where the head leads the body is destined to follow lead by God.  Of course we know Eve did not follow Adam’s instruction handed down by God.

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:16-17

So we see that Adam was given instruction NOT to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  Instruction is ALWAYS given to the HEAD for the BODY.  Whether it’s instruction from Jesus to the church or from the husband to the wife (family).  YOU MUST ALWAYS OBEY THE HEAD lead by God.  

SIN AND DEATH:  Sin and death are twins, they walk hand in hand.  Sin brings death.  It is a sin to disobey God.   Disobedience (sin) is the precursor to death.  Death in some form ALWAYS follows disobedience, in this case the death of a relationship occurred.  Sin also brings division.  The very first relationship in the cycle of life was destroyed by death.  Inadvertently death was never God’s plan for man, only eternity.  Thus the death (division) of the first father/son relationship between God and man occurred.   

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.  Genesis 3:6

RELATIONSHIPS MATTER:  Obedience brings right standing and right relationship with God.  Father’s day is just around the corner and God our heavenly Father would love for you to rededicate your life to him thereby re-establishing a renewed relationship with him.  It’s NEVER too late to repent and get your life right with God.  God cares about your relationship with him.  He cares about your relationship with your spouse, children, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc.  Relationships matter to God.  Restore your relationship with God first and the rest will follow.

RELATIONSHIP RESTORATION:  Repair your relationship with God by repenting for the sin of disobedience which brings death.  Obey God first and foremost and follow his lead to relationship restoration with everyone else.

Ω   Relationship restoration:  Restore relationship with God first and then follow his lead to relationship restoration with others

For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.  Therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.  For as by one mans disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.  Romans 5:17-19

If you would like to repent and get back in right standing with God restore your relationship with him, say this prayer:  Lord I ask you to forgive me for allowing the sin of pride, rebellion and disobedience cause division in my heart toward you.  You are not a God of division but the God of Univision. You’re the God of one vision and that vision has been made clear to me.  You’re the God of love and your grace and mercy never cease.  Lord I ask you for direction and guidance in everything I do from this day forward.  Lord I want to reconcile my relationship with you and have fresh start in my relationship with you.  I ask this in Jesus name.  Amen!

If you would like to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior say this prayer:  I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead.  Lord your word declares that with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.   Romans 10:9-10
